Re:                   75% OF PRECINCTS MAY HAVE DIFFERENT CAUCUS SITE THAN POLLING PLACE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Johnson County caucus goers should be aware that their caucus location may be different than their regular polling place.  75 percent of Johnson County caucus locations are different than the regular polling place for one or both parties.  In addition, Democrats and Republicans in the same precinct might not be at the same building.

In 43 of Johnson County's 57 precincts, voters in at least one party will go somewhere other than their regular polling place.

The political parties, not the Auditor's Office, set the locations and conduct the caucuses.  Parties are required by law to notify auditors of the locations.  The Johnson County Democratic and Republican chairs have both spoken with the Auditor's Office today and confirmed that the list of sites on the Auditor's web site jcauditor.com is current and correct.  Voters may also enter their address at the Auditor's web site to find their precinct and caucus site, or call our office at 356-6004.

You may caucus if you reside at a Johnson County address and were born on or after November 4, 1990, and you can register to vote or change registration at the caucus site.  Democratic caucuses begin at 6:30 p.m.; the Republican caucuses start at 7 p.m.  There is no absentee or early voting -- to participate, you must go to your caucus site.

For more information on your caucus site only, you may contact our office at 356-6004.  You may also contact the parties or presidential campaigns for caucus sites and other caucus information.
