MINUTES OF THE CANVASS OF THE JOHNSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS:
FEBRUARY 21, 2005
Chairperson Lehman called to order the Johnson County Board of Supervisors at 9:00 a.m. to act as a canvass board to certify the results of the Clear Creek Special Election of February 14, 2006. Members present were: Pat Harney, Mike Lehman, Terrence Neuzil, Sally Stutsman, and Rod Sullivan.
Recessed at 9:03 a.m.; reconvened at 1:04 p.m.
ABSTRACT OF VOTES
UPON THE PUBLIC MEASURE A “Shall the Board of Directors of the Clear Creek Amana Community School District in the Counties of Johnson and Iowa, State of Iowa, be authorized to contract indebtedness and issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $25,500,000 to provide funds to build and furnish a new Elementary School building and a new High School building, and to purchase and improve sites?” there were two thousand four hundred forty four (2444) votes cast as follows:
FOR the question, there were one thousand six hundred sixty eight (1668) votes cast.
AGAINST the question, there were seven hundred seventy six (776) votes cast.
We therefore declare the Public Measure A “Shall the Board of Directors of the Clear Creek Amana Community School District in the Counties of Johnson and Iowa, State of Iowa, be authorized to contract indebtedness and issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $25,500,000 to provide funds to build and furnish a new Elementary School building and a new High School building, and to purchase and improve sites?” to be adopted.
UPON THE PUBLIC MEASURE B “Shall the Board of Directors of the Clear Creek Amana Community School District in the Counties of Johnson and Iowa, State of Iowa, be authorized to levy annually a tax exceeding two dollars and seventy cents per thousand dollars, but not exceeding four dollars and five cents per thousand dollars of the assessed value of the taxable property within said school corporation to pay the principal of and interest on bonded indebtedness of said school corporation, approval of this proposition shall not limit the source of payment of the bonds and interest, but shall only operate to restrict the amount of bonds which may be issued?” there were two thousand four hundred thirty four (2434) votes cast as follows:
FOR the question, there were one thousand five hundred eighty two (1582) votes cast.
AGAINST the question, there were eight hundred fifty two (852) votes cast.
We therefore declare the Public Measure B “Shall the Board of Directors of the Clear Creek Amana Community School District in the Counties of Johnson and Iowa, State of Iowa, be authorized to levy annually a tax exceeding two dollars and seventy cents per thousand dollars, but not exceeding four dollars and five cents per thousand dollars of the assessed value of the taxable property within said school corporation to pay the principal of and interest on bonded indebtedness of said school corporation, approval of this proposition shall not limit the source of payment of the bonds and interest, but shall only operate to restrict the amount of bonds which may be issued?” to be adopted.
Motion by Harney, second by Sullivan, to approve the results of the Clear Creek Special Election of February 14, 2006. Roll call: aye: Harney, Stutsman, Lehman, Neuzil, Sullivan.
