Chairperson Harney called the Johnson County Board of Supervisors to order in the Johnson County Administration Building at 9:03 a.m.  Members present were: Pat Harney, Larry Meyers, Terrence Neuzil, Sally Stutsman, and Rod Sullivan.

Executive Session: Evaluation and Goal Setting of Ambulance Director Steve Spenler

Motion by Stutsman, second by Sullivan, to enter into Executive Session at 9:03 a.m. for an annual evaluation of Ambulance Director Steve Spenler under section 21.5(1.i), Code of Iowa, “to evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation and that individual requests a closed session.”  Roll call: aye: Sullivan, Stutsman, Harney, Neuzil, Meyers.

Motion by Sullivan, second by Stutsman, to leave Executive Session at 9:21 a.m.  Roll call: aye: Sullivan, Stutsman, Harney, Neuzil, Meyers.

Executive Session: Evaluation and Goal Setting of Information Services Director Jean Schultz

Motion by Neuzil, second by Stutsman, to enter into Executive Session at 9:24 a.m. for an annual evaluation of Information Services Director Jean Schultz under section 21.5(1.i), Code of Iowa, “to evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation and that individual requests a closed session.”  Roll call: aye: Sullivan, Stutsman, Harney, Neuzil, Meyers.

Motion by Sullivan, second by Stutsman, to leave Executive Session at 9:45 a.m.  Roll call: aye: Sullivan, Stutsman, Harney, Neuzil, Meyers.

Recessed at 9:45 a.m.; reconvened at 9:55 a.m.

Motion by Neuzil, second by Stutsman, to enter into Executive Session at 9:55 a.m. for an annual evaluation of Social Services Coordinator Amy Correia under section 21.5(1.i), Code of Iowa, “to evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation and that individual requests a closed session.”  Roll call: aye: Sullivan, Stutsman, Harney, Neuzil, Meyers.

Motion by Stutsman, second by Meyers, to leave Executive Session at 10:23 a.m.  Roll call: aye: Sullivan, Stutsman, Harney, Neuzil, Meyers.

Discussion: reviewing and changing the department head liaison-evaluation matrix for 2007 evaluations

The Board discussed their liaison appointments to the department heads.  The following is a list of department heads and their liaison appointments:

Ambulance Director Steve Spenler: Meyers and Stutsman.

Executive Assistant Mike Sullivan: Harney and Neuzil. 

Social Services Coordinator Amy Correia: Harney and Sullivan.

Human Resources Administrator Lora Shramek: Stutsman and Sullivan

Information Services Director Jean Schultz: Meyers and Sullivan

Medical Examiner Administrator Mike Hensch: Harney and Neuzil

MH/DD Director Elaine Sweet: Sullivan and Stutsman

Facilities Director David Kempf: Neuzil and Meyers

Planning and Zoning Administrator Rick Dvorak: Harney and Sullivan

SEATS Director Tom Brase: Stutsman and Neuzil

County Engineer Greg Parker: Harney and Neuzil
