MINUTES OF THE FORMAL MEETING OF THE JOHNSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS:

MARCH 1, 2007

Chairperson Harney called the Johnson County Board of Supervisors to order in the Johnson County Administration Building at 9:00 a.m.  Members present were: Pat Harney, Larry Meyers, Terrence Neuzil, Sally Stutsman, and Rod Sullivan.

Unless otherwise noted, all actions were taken unanimously.

Motion by Stutsman, second by Meyers, to approve the claims on the Auditor’s Claim Register, as approved by a majority of the Supervisors.

Motion by Neuzil, second by Sullivan, to approve the minutes of the canvass of votes of February 20, 2007 and the formal meeting of February 22, 2007. 

Motion by Stutsman, second by Sullivan, to approve the payroll authorizations submitted by department heads, as approved by a majority of the Supervisors.

Motion by Stutsman, second by Neuzil, to approve the Johnson County Secondary Roads five-year Road Construction Program for 2008-2012 and the future projects right-of-way needs map.

Motion by Neuzil, second by Sullivan, to approve and authorizing the Auditor to publish a Notice to Bidders setting a bid letting date of April 3, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. for the 2007 Johnson County Dust Control Safety Program (calcium chloride application to portions of Johnson County rock surfaced roads).

Motion by Meyers, second by Neuzil, to approve and authorize the Auditor to publish a Notice to Bidders setting a bid letting date of April 3, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. for the 2007 Seed and Fertilizer Program.  Roll call: aye: Stutsman, Harney, Neuzil, Meyers; nay: Sullivan. 

Motion by Stutsman, second by Sullivan, to approve and authorize the Auditor to publish a Notice to Bidders setting a bid letting date of April 3, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. for the 2007 Bituminous Resurfacing Program. 

Motion by Stutsman, second by Neuzil, to approve and authorize the Chairperson to sign and send a letter of response to Mr. Jay Speckeen denying his request for the County to waive a real estate tax late interest fee assessment in the amount of $113.00. 

Motion by Sullivan, second by Stutsman, to approve and authorize the Chairperson to sign Sheriff’s contracts for the provision of law enforcement services to the towns of Shueyville and Lone Tree.  

Motion by Stutsman, second by Meyers, to appoint Michael McLaughlin to the Johnson County Historic Preservation Commission for an unexpired term ending December 31, 2008.
