MINUTES OF THE FORMAL MEETING OF THE JOHNSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS:

MARCH 8, 2007

Chairperson Harney called the Johnson County Board of Supervisors to order in the Johnson County Administration Building at 4:30 p.m.  Members present were: Pat Harney, Larry Meyers, Terrence Neuzil, Sally Stutsman, and Rod Sullivan.

Unless otherwise noted, all actions were taken unanimously.

Convened Public Hearing on Johnson County proposed budget for FY 2008 at 4:30 p.m.

Stutsman summarized the County’s strategic goals and objectives and the budget planning process.  Stutsman summarized the overall County budget, including new positions being funded in Fiscal Year 2008.  Harney discussed the Public Safety service area budget and the Health and Human Services budget.  R. Sullivan discussed the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities service area budget, the Education and Environment service area budget, the County Administration service area budget, the Secondary Roads budget, and the Government Services to Residents service area.  Meyers discussed the Capital Projects functions and budgets.  Neuzil analyzed the Johnson County Budget for FY 08 and reviewed sources of revenues, with the significant sources being property taxes and intergovernmental revenues, and the debt service fund.  Neuzil also presented a breakdown of the impact of the Fiscal Year 2007 budget on rural and city taxpayers.

Marilyn Brenneman spoke regarding the County budget.

Harney concluded the presentation and announced that the Board would take formal action on the budget on March 15, 2007.

Public Hearing closed at 5:15 p.m.
