MINUTES OF THE FORMAL MEETING OF THE JOHNSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS:

AUGUST 7, 2008

      Chairperson Sullivan called the Johnson County Board of Supervisors to order in the Johnson County Administration Building at 9:00 a.m.  Members present were: Pat Harney, Larry Meyers, Terrence Neuzil, and Rod Sullivan; absent: Sally Stutsman.

      Unless otherwise noted, all actions were taken with by the following vote: Roll call: aye: Harney, Sullivan, Neuzil, Meyers; absent: Stutsman.

Motion by Meyers, second by Neuzil, to approve the claims on the Auditor’s Claim Register, as approved by a majority of the Supervisors.

Motion by Neuzil, second by Meyers, to approve the minutes of the formal meeting of July 31, 2008. 

Motion by Harney, second by Meyers, to approve the payroll authorizations submitted by department heads, as approved by a majority of the Supervisors.

Motion by Neuzil, second by Meyers, to approve funding influenza vaccine for Johnson County employees and household members from the County Health fund. 

Motion by Meyers, second by Neuzil, to approve the request for property tax suspension on property located at 220 Washington Street, Hills, Iowa.

Motion by Neuzil, second by Meyers, to approve and authorize the Chairperson to sign an amended 28E Agreement for Paratransit Services between the City of Iowa City and Johnson County for the period of July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2013.

Motion by Meyers, second by Neuzil, to set a public hearing for August 28, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. for the Level “B” Section of Roadway, Eagle Avenue NW, Road Vacation, located in Section 26, Township 80 North, Range 8 West in Oxford Township and authorize the Auditor to publish. 

Motion by Harney, second by Meyers, to approve and authorize the Chairperson to sign a letter regarding the Emergency Watershed Protection Program to be a sponsor for local watershed protection projects.

Motion by Neuzil, second by Harney, to approve the County Tobacco Use Policy.

Motion by Neuzil, second by Meyers, to approve and authorize the Chairperson to sign an offer to purchase 504 South Capitol Street, 510 South Capitol Street, and 7 East Harrison Street from the City of Iowa City.

      Adjourned to informal meeting at 9:20 a.m.
