MINUTES OF THE CANVASS OF THE JOHNSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS:

SEPTEMBER 12, 2008

      Chairperson Sullivan called to order the Johnson County Board of Supervisors at 11:02 a.m. to act as a canvass board to certify the results of the School Board Election of September 9, 2008.  Members present were: Pat Harney, Larry Meyers, and Rod Sullivan; absent: Terrence Neuzil and Sally Stutsman.

ABSTRACT OF VOTES

FOR THE OFFICE OF Clear Creek Amana Community School District Board of Directors At Large (ONE to be elected) there were four hundred eighty-nine (489) votes cast as follows: Kathi Huebner received two hundred seventy-eight (278) votes, Eileen Schmidt received one hundred ninety-eight (198) votes, and Scattering received thirteen (13) votes.

      We therefore declare Kathi Huebner duly elected for the office of Clear Creek Amana Community School Board Director At Large for the term of 3 years.

FOR THE OFFICE OF Clear Creek Amana Community School District Board of Directors District 2 (ONE to be elected) there were four hundred twenty-five (425) votes cast as follows: Kathy Zimmerman received two hundred fifty-one (251) votes, Celia Eckermann received one hundred sixty-seven (167) votes, and Scattering received seven (7) votes.

      We therefore declare Kathy Zimmerman duly elected for the office of Clear Creek Amana Community School Board Director District 2 for the term of 1 year.

FOR THE OFFICE OF Clear Creek Amana Community School District Board of Directors District 3 (ONE to be elected) there were three hundred eighty (380) votes cast as follows: Timothy Hennes received three hundred sixty-four (364) votes, and Scattering received sixteen (16) votes.

      We therefore declare Timothy Hennes duly elected for the office of Clear Creek Amana Community School Board Director District 3 for the term of 3 years.

FOR THE OFFICE OF Iowa City Community School District Board of Directors (THREE to be elected) there were four thousand six hundred seventy-five (4,675) votes cast as follows: Toni Cilek received one thousand three hundred forty-eight (1,348) votes, Patti Fields received one thousand four hundred fifty-seven (1,457) votes, Michael Shaw received one thousand two hundred thirty-nine (1,239) votes, Richard P. Tiegs received five hundred ninety-three (593) votes, and Scattering received thirty-eight (38) votes.

      We therefore declare Toni Cilek, Patti Fields, and Michael Shaw duly elected for the office of Iowa City Community School District Board Director for the term of 3 years.

      FOR THE OFFICE OF Director of District 4, Merged Area X, Kirkwood Community College (ONE to be elected) there were three hundred thirty-four (334) votes cast as follows: Karen Gorham received three hundred twenty-nine (329) votes, and Scattering received five (5) votes.

      FOR THE OFFICE OF Director of District 5, Merged Area X, Kirkwood Community College (ONE to be elected) there were five hundred seventy-two (572) votes cast as follows: John L Hall received five hundred sixty-one (561) votes, and Scattering received eleven (11) votes.

FOR THE OFFICE OF Lone Tree Community School District Board of Directors (TWO to be elected) there were one hundred thirty-six (136) votes cast as follows: Sheila Burr received sixty-eight (68) votes, Joel P. Yedlik received sixty-five (65) votes, and Scattering received three (3) votes.

      We therefore declare Sheila Burr and Joel P. Yedlik duly elected for the office of Lone Tree Community School District Board Director for the term of 3 years.

FOR THE OFFICE OF Solon Community School District Board of Directors (ONE to be elected) there were four hundred twenty-one (421) votes cast as follows: Tim Brown received two hundred sixty-two (262) votes, Tom Gross received one hundred fifty-eight (158) votes, and Scattering received one (1) vote.

      We therefore declare Tim Brown duly elected for the office of Solon Community School District Board Director for the term of 3 years.

Motion by Harney, second by Meyers, to approve the results of the School Board Election of September 9, 2008.  Roll call: aye: Harney, Sullivan, Meyers; absent: Stutsman, Neuzil.
