MINUTES OF THE INFORMAL MEETING OF THE JOHNSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS:
JANUARY 4, 2010
Chairperson Stutsman called the Johnson County Board of Supervisors to order in the Johnson County Health and Human Services Building at 9:10 a.m. Members present were: Pat Harney, Terrence Neuzil, Janelle Rettig, Sally Stutsman, and Rod Sullivan.
The Board met in a work session to discuss their appointments to various boards and commissions for calendar year 2010. Sullivan said that the Board has had some discussion that it doesn't do any good to be on a committee for only one year, because it can take more than one year to understand the charge of the committee. He said that some organizations also request a two year term. Sullivan said they need to balance consistency but also giving Supervisors new experiences. Neuzil suggested adding a column to the appointment worksheet stating how long Board members have served on a commission. Stutsman said that in the past they have given fewer commitments to the Chair of the Board. Neuzil said that if a Board member gets appointed to a commission they should try to make it a commitment to attend the commission meetings. The Board agreed. They decided on the following appointments:
