Chairperson Stutsman called the Johnson County Board of Supervisors to order in the Johnson County Health and Human Services Building at 9:13 a.m. Members present were: Pat Harney, Terrence Neuzil, Janelle Rettig, Sally Stutsman, and Rod Sullivan.
Executive Assistant Andy Johnson reported that the Board has a Work Session and Site Visit to the Recorder’s Office scheduled for February 3, 2010 at 9:00 a.m., the Formal and Informal Meetings are scheduled for February 4, 2010 at 9:00 a.m., and a Work Session for the 5 Year Road Plan scheduled for February 4, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.
Rettig attended the JCCOG Urbanized Area and Rural Area Policy Board Meetings, the Decat Board Meeting, and she took a tour of Information Technology. She met with the Coralville City Leadership Group, and attended the caucus on January 23, 2010. She noted that January 28, 2010 is the National Day of Action on Coal Ash.
Harney attended the Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation Meeting, the Johnson County Emergency Communication Center Policy Board Meeting, the Johnson County Economic Development Committee Meeting, the Canvass of Votes for the January 19, 2010 Special Election, the Batterers Education Program Board of Directors Meeting, the JCCOG Urbanized Area and Rural Area Policy Board Meetings, and the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Meeting. He participated in a presentation by the University of Iowa Veterans Association regarding forming a community advisory group for the U.S. Army. Harney announced that the Coralville WinterFest is scheduled for January 31, 2010.
Neuzil added that WinterFest is scheduled from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. at the Iowa River Landing and admission is free. He attended the Emergency Management Association Meeting, and met with Information Technology staff regarding making it easier to look up a person's taxes on the County website. Also, Neuzil is offering a class on Johnson County Government at the Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center on Fridays during the month of February at 1:00 p.m.
Sullivan mentioned that by going to the Government Channel 4 webpage, streaming video of Board of Supervisors live meetings is available. Sullivan also noted that by going to the Auditor's website an audio file is available to listen to some Board of Supervisors meetings. He attended the Decat Board Meeting. He said that on February 1, 2010 there are City and County Assessor Conference Board Examinations. Sullivan will be judging the ISAC Scholarship Awards on February 2, 2010. He attended the training session for the Job Evaluation Team on January 27, 2010. Sullivan reported that the 14th Annual Domestic Violence Intervention Program Souper Bowl is scheduled for February 4, 2010.
Stutsman attended the Economic Development Committee Meeting. She announced that the skywalk between the Administration Building and Health and Human Services Building is now open.
