Next week’s Formal/Informal Meeting is scheduled for March 18, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. Johnson noted that the following week, the Formal/Informal Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 23, 2010, instead of March 25, 2010, because of the Iowa State Association of Counties (ISAC) Conference.
Rettig stated she attended the Compeer Sound of Friendship Concert. She spent two days this week at the Iowa Water Conference. Rettig announced the Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District is selling rain barrels. The Iowa Learning Farm has a resource trailer they are willing to bring to local events. Rettig attended the Prairie Preview.
Harney attended the Iowa City Chamber Roundtable. He went on some road site visits with Secondary Roads about complaints they received from the public. He met locally with some Federal staffers, and met with the Conservation Board in regards to Sutliff Bridge. Harney attended the County-A-Day at the State Capitol. He attended an existing industry presentation at Iowa City Area Development (ICAD). He attended the Johnson County Economic Development Committee Meeting, a liaison meeting with Facilities Director Dave Kempf, and the Homebuilders Association Program. Harney met with Senator Harkin’s Staff Member Dan Smith, and the Chamber Local Government Meeting. Harney reminded the Board that Daylight Savings Time begins on March 14, 2010.
Sullivan said he met with the Finance Committee, the Parking Committee, and the Communications Committee. He had a liaison meeting with Planning and Zoning Administrator Rick Dvorak and a liaison meeting with County Engineer Greg Parker. He said the public can check road embargo updates on the website. He attended the Chamber Ag Committee Meeting and the Chamber Governmental Affairs Committee. Stutsman met with the consultant with the Iowa City School District, and attended the Department of Human Services Council Meeting in Des Moines, Iowa. Stutsman announced the Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District is selling compost barrels.
Rettig said during Spring Break, she urges everyone to play safely, use sunscreen, and come home unharmed. She urged all County residents to complete their Census form.
Johnson County League of Women Voters Representative Rebecca Reiter said Sullivan referred to the Communications Committee but she wasn’t sure what group he was referring to. Sullivan said it’s an internal Johnson County committee that deals with things like the County Fair. It’s sort of the image committee, the committee that adopted the Johnson County logo and discusses art in buildings. Stutsman said they are working on County Government Month and Earth Day. Reiter asked if the committee deals with communication with the public. Sullivan replied that it’s similar to a public relations committee.
