MINUTES OF THE CANVASS OF THE JOHNSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS:
SEPTEMBER 15, 2000
Chairperson Stutsman called to order the Johnson County Board of Supervisors at 9:05 a.m. to act as a canvass board to certify the results of the School Board Election of September 12, 2000. Members present were: Charles Duffy, Jonathan Jordahl, Mike Lehman, Sally Stutsman, and Carol Thompson.
ABSTRACT OF VOTES
FOR THE OFFICE OF Clear Creek Amana Community School Board of Directors District 4 (ONE to be elected) there were one hundred seventeen (117) votes cast as follows: James Seelman received one hundred eight (108) votes and Scattering received nine (9) votes.
We therefore declare James Seelman duly elected to the office of School Board Director District 4, for the term of 3 years.
FOR THE OFFICE OF Clear Creek Amana Community School Board of Directors At Large (ONE to be elected) there were one hundred eight (108) votes cast as follows: Daniel J. Schaapveld received one hundred (100) votes, and Scattering received eight (8) votes.
We therefore declare Daniel J. Schaapveld duly elected to the office of School Board Director At Large, for the term of 3 years.
FOR THE OFFICE OF Iowa City Community School Board of Directors (TWO to be elected) there were four thousand four hundred sixty-two (4,462) votes cast as follows: Elizabeth Atwood received six hundred seven (607) votes, Janet Leff received one thousand nine hundred fifty-two (1,952) votes, Peter D. Wallace received one thousand eight hundred eighty-six (1,886) votes, and Scattering received seventeen (17) votes.
We therefore declare Janet Leff and Peter D. Wallace duly elected to the offices of School Board Director, for the term of 3 years.
FOR THE OFFICE OF Lone Tree Community School Board of Directors (ONE to be elected) there were forty-five (45) votes cast as follows: James Lively received fourty-five (45) votes, and Scattering received zero (0) votes.
We therefore declare James Lively duly elected to the office of School Board Director, for the term of 3 years.
FOR THE OFFICE OF Solon Community School Board of Directors (TWO to be elected) there were two thousand two hundred twenty-nine (2,229) votes cast as follows: Lois J. Geist received one thousand seventy-six (1,076) votes, Don Otto received one thousand one hundred eighteen (1,118) votes, and Scattering received thirty-five (35) votes.
We therefore declare Lois J. Geist and Don Otto duly elected to the offices of School Board Director, for the term of 3 years.
Upon the public measure (A)
Shall the Board of Directors of the Solon Community School District in the Counties of Johnson and Linn, State of Iowa, be authorized to contract indebtedness and issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $7,600,000 to provide funds to build and furnish a new High School building and to build and furnish a two classroom addition to and imporve, remodel, repair and furnish the current high school building as a new Middle School Building?
there were one thousand seven hundred forty-five (1,745) votes cast, as follows:
FOR the question there were one thousand two hundred thirty-one (1,231) votes cast.
AGAINST the question there were five hundred fourteen (514) votes cast.
We therefore declare the public measure (A)
Shall the Board of Directors of the Solon Community School District in the Counties of Johnson and Linn, State of Iowa, be authorized to contract indebtedness and issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $7,600,000 to provide funds to build and furnish a new High School building and to build and furnish a two classroom addition to and imporve, remodel, repair and furnish the current high school building as a new Middle School Building?

Upon the public measure (B)
Shall the Board of Directors of the Solon Community School District in the Counties of Johnson and Linn, State of Iowa, be authorized to levy annually a tax exceeding two dollars and seventy cents per thousand dollars, but not exceeding four dollars and five cents per thousand dollars of the assessed value of the taxable property within said school coproation to pay the principal of and interest on bonded indebtedness of said school corporation, approval of this proposition shall not limit the source of payment of the bonds and interest, but shall only operate to restricet the amount of bonds which may be issued?
there were one thousand seven hundred forty (1,740) votes cast, as follows:
FOR the question there were one thousand one hundred eighty-six (1,186) votes cast.
AGAINST the question there were five hundred fifty-four (554) votes cast.
We therefore declare the public measure (B)
