DISCUSSION: FISCAL YEAR 2003 BUDGET
Budget Coordinator Jeff Horne said he is still preparing the budget, but is almost finished. He said he has most of the department’s budget cuts, and those he doesn’t have will be in by the end of the day on February 5, 2002. Horne said the budget public hearing will be Monday March 4, 2002 at 5:30 p.m. Lehman asked what kind of cuts departments had made. Horne said departments made line item adjustments and also personnel dollar cuts. He said departments are cutting temporary and part-time hours and not filling some open full time positions. Horne said he isn’t seeing layoffs of full time people at this point. Horne said the only items funded through capital expenditures this year are the Sheriff cars, SEATS match and an Information Services van. Lehman asked if Horne had budgeted for longevity and merit raises. Horne said yes. Horne said the Sheriff and Recorder had presented him with letters along with their departmental cut.
