MINUTES OF THE CANVASS OF THE JOHNSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS:

OCTOBER 9, 1997

Chairperson Stutsman called to order the Johnson County Board of Supervisors at 1:01 p.m. to act as a canvass board to certify the results of the City of Iowa City Primary Election of October 7, 1997. Present were Joseph Bolkcom, Jonathon Jordahl, and Sally Stutsman; absent: Stephen Lacina and Charles Duffy.

ABSTRACT OF VOTES

FOR THE OFFICE OF Iowa City Council Member District B (TWO to be nominated) there were two thousand eight hundred seventeen (2,817) votes cast as follows:

Larry Baker received seven hundred thirty-eight (738) votes, Connie Champion received one thousand three hundred sixty-two (1,362) votes, Russell Lovetinsky received seven hundred thirteen and Scattering received four (4) votes. Larry Baker and Connie Champion were nominated.

FOR THE OFFICE OF Iowa City Council Member At-Large (FOUR to be nominated) there were ten thousand twenty-six (10,026) votes cast as follows:

John Calvin Jones received two hundred forty-five (245) votes, Ernest W. Lehman received two thousand six hundred seventy-one (2,671) votes, John Fitzgerald Lohman received four hundred eighty (480) votes, Derek Maurer received one thousand five hundred eighty-seven (1,587) votes, Mike O'Donnell received one thousand nine hundred thirty-nine (1,939) votes, Gary Sanders received one thousand four hundred thirty-three (1,433) votes, Allen Stroh Jr. received one hundred forty-eight (148) votes, Ross Wilburn received one thousand four hundred ninety-four (1,494) votes, and Scattering received twenty-nine (29); and Ernest W. Lehman, Derek Maurer, Mike O'Donnell and Ross Wilburn were nominated.

Motion by Bolkcom, second by Jordahl, to approve the results of the City of Iowa City Primary Election of October 7, 1997. Roll call: aye: Bolkcom, Jordahl, Stutsman; absent: Lacina, Duffy.
