MINUTES OF THE CANVASS OF THE JOHNSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS:

JUNE 9, 1998

Chairperson Bolkcom called to order the Johnson County Board of Supervisors at 9:03 a.m. to act as a canvass board to certify the results of the Primary Election of June 2, 1998. Members present were: Joseph Bolkcom, Charles Duffy, Jonathan Jordahl, Stephen Lacina, and Sally Stutsman.

ABSTRACT OF VOTES

DEMOCRATIC PARTY

FOR THE OFFICE OF United States Senator there were five thousand eight hundred twenty-three (5,823) votes cast as follows:

David Osterberg received five thousand seven hundred ninety-two (5,792) votes, and Scattering received thirty-one (31) votes.

FOR THE OFFICE OF United States Representative there were five thousand seven hundred forty-two (5,742) votes cast as follows:

Bob Rush received five thousand seven hundred six (5,706) votes, and Scattering received thirty-six (36) votes.

FOR THE OFFICE OF Governor there were seven thousand two hundred twelve (7,212) votes cast as follows:

Mark McCormick received three thousand five hundred ninety-seven (3,597) votes, Tom Vilsack received three thousand five hundred eighty-six (3,586) votes, and Scattering received twenty-nine (29) votes.

FOR THE OFFICE OF Secretary of State there were five thousand six hundred twenty-two (5,622) votes cast as follows:

Chet Culver received three thousand nine hundred twenty-one (3,921) votes, Ned Miller received one thousand six hundred seventy-nine (1,679) votes, and Scattering received twenty-two (22) votes.

FOR THE OFFICE OF State Auditor there were one hundred forty-three (143) votes cast as follows:

Scattering received one hundred forty-three (143) votes.

FOR THE OFFICE OF State Treasurer there were five thousand six hundred nineteen (5,619) votes cast as follows:

Michael Fitzgerald received five thousand six hundred eight (5,608) votes, and Scattering received eleven (11) votes.

FOR THE OFFICE OF Secretary of Agriculture there were five thousand three hundred twenty-five (5,325) votes cast as follows:

Patty Judge received five thousand three hundred twelve (5,312) votes, and Scattering received thirteeen (13) votes.

FOR THE OFFICE OF Attorney General there were six thousand one hundred eight (6,108) votes cast as follows:

Tom Miller received six thousand ninety-three (6,093) votes, and Scattering received fifteen (15) votes.

FOR THE OFFICE OF State Senator in District 23 there were three thousand three hundred ninety (3,390) votes cast as follows:

Joe Bolkcom received three thousand three hundred thirty-six (3,336) votes, and Scattering received fifty-four (54) votes.

FOR THE OFFICE OF State Senator in District 25 there were two thousand three hundred fifty (2,350) votes cast as follows:

Robert E. Dvorsky received two thousand three hundred twenty-nine (2,329) votes, and Scattering received twenty-one (21) votes.

FOR THE OFFICE OF State Representative in District 45 there were one thousand seven hundred one (1,701) votes cast as follows:

Minnette Doderer received one thousand six hundred seventy-seven (1,677) votes, and Scattering received twenty-four (24) votes.

Tom Carsner received three thousand four hundred ninety-nine (3,499) votes, Richard Dick Craig received one thousand three hundred seventy-seven (1,377) votes, Michael E. Lehman received four thousand three hundred seventy-seven (4,377) votes, Sally Stutsman received four thousand nine hundred thirty-nine (4,939) votes, and Scattering received forty-two (42) votes; and Michael E. Lehman and Sally Stutsman were nominated.

FOR THE OFFICE OF County Treasurer there were seven thousand two hundred seventy-nine (7,279) votes cast as follows:

Thomas L. Kriz received three thousand six hundred forty-eight (3,648) votes, Pam Lenz Nielsen received three thousand six hundred twenty (3,620) votes, and Scattering received eleven (11) votes; and Thomas L. Kriz was nominated.

FOR THE OFFICE OF County Recorder there were eight thousand thirty (8,030) votes cast as follows:

Steve Lacina received three thousand seven hundred ninety-one (3,791) votes, Kim Painter received four thousand two hundred twenty-five (4,225) votes, and Scattering received fourteen (14) votes; and Kim Painter was nominated.

FOR THE OFFICE OF County Attorney (ONE to be nominated) there were six thousand fifty (6,050) votes cast as follows:
