MINUTES OF THE CANVASS OF THE JOHNSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS:
APRIL 6, 1999
Chairperson Jordahl called to order the Johnson County Board of Supervisors at 9:00 a.m. to act as a canvass board to certify the results of the Local Option Sales Tax Special Election of March 30, 1999. Members present were: Charles Duffy, Jonathan Jordahl, Mike Lehman, Sally Stutsman, and Carol Thompson.
ABSTRACT OF VOTES
Upon the public measure (B)
Summary: To authorize imposition of a local sales and services tax in the cities of Coralville, Hills, Iowa City, North Liberty, University Heights, at the rate of one percent (1%) to be effective on July 1, 1999.
Upon the public measure (H)
Summary: To authorize imposition of a local sales and services tax in the city of Tiffin, at the rate of one percent (1%) to be effective on July 1, 1999.
there were eleven thousand two hundred sixty (11,260) votes cast, as follows:
FOR the question, there were three thousand one hundred seventy-five (3,175) votes cast.
AGAINST the question, there were eight thousand eighty-five (8,085) votes cast.
We therefore declare the public measure (B)
Summary: To authorize imposition of a local sales and services tax in the cities of Coralville, Hills, Iowa City, North Liberty, University Heights, at the rate of one percent (1%) to be effective on July 1, 1999.

FOR the question, there were fifty-six (56) votes cast.
AGAINST the question, there were one hundred thirty-eight (138) votes cast.
We therefore declare the public measure (C)
Summary: To authorize imposition of a local sales and services tax in the city of Lone Tree, at the rate of one percent (1%) to be effective on July 1, 1999.

Upon the public measure (D)
Summary: To authorize imposition of a local sales and services tax in the city of Oxford, at the rate of one percent (1%) to be effective on July 1, 1999.
there were one hundred twenty-three (123) votes cast, as follows:
FOR the question, there were fifty-two (52) votes cast.
AGAINST the question, there were seventy-one (71) votes cast.
We therefore declare the public measure (D)
Summary: To authorize imposition of a local sales and services tax in the city of Oxford, at the rate of one percent (1%) to be effective on July 1, 1999.

Upon the public measure (E)
Summary: To authorize imposition of a local sales and services tax in the city of Shueyville, at the rate of one percent (1%) to be effective on July 1, 1999.
there were thirty-four (34) votes cast, as follows:
FOR the question, there were ten (10) votes cast.
AGAINST the question, there were twenty-four (24) votes cast.
We therefore declare the public measure (E)
Summary: To authorize imposition of a local sales and services tax in the city of Shueyville, at the rate of one percent (1%) to be effective on July 1, 1999.

Summary: To authorize imposition of a local sales and services tax in the city of Solon, at the rate of one percent (1%) to be effective on July 1, 1999.
there were one hundred eighty-five (185) votes cast, as follows:
FOR the question, there were seventy-two (72) votes cast.
AGAINST the question, there were one hundred thirteen (113) votes cast.
We therefore declare the public measure (F)

We therefore declare the public measure (G)

Summary: To authorize imposition of a local sales and services tax in the unincorporated area of the county of Johnson, at the rate of one percent (1%) to be effective on July 1, 1999.
there were two thousand nine hundred fifty-two (2,952) votes cast, as follows:
FOR the question, there were five hundred thirty-two (532) votes cast.
AGAINST the question, there were two thousand four hundred twenty (2,420) votes cast.
We therefore declare the public measure (K)
Summary: To authorize imposition of a local sales and services tax in the unincorporated area of the county of Johnson, at the rate of one percent (1%) to be effective on July 1, 1999.
