New 2010 Road Map

The Auditor's Office has available for sale the 2010 Johnson County Road map. The map shows names of all public and private roads in Johnson County as well as the surface type of each road. The maps are printed in color and are free (limit of two per customer suggested).

2009 Rural Plat Books are now available for the price of $14 or $20.

The $20 book shows plats of rural property owners, as well as a rural residential directory and telephone directory.

The $14 book has more detailed plats of rural owners and was most recently updated, but it does not contain a residential directory. Detailed street maps of every city within Johnson County are also included in the $14 book.

The Auditor's Office maintains records of current property ownership within Johnson County for taxation purposes. These records are available to the public and consist of plat maps showing current ownership, aerial photos showing ground cover and other physical attributes, and road maps. Each year the Auditor's Office compiles property tax levies and calculates property taxes, which are collected by the Treasurer's Office.

County Road Maps

The Official County Highway Map is available in the Johnson County Auditor's Office.  The map shows names of all public and private roads in Johnson County, as well as the surface type of each road.

  • Aerial Photographs and Parcel Maps. View a list of the aerial photographs and parcel maps available, including the scale and area of coverage. There are more than 790 aerial photos covering all of Johnson County, which vary in scale from 1"=50' in the central business district of Iowa City to 1"=100' in the towns and densely populated rural areas to 1"=400' in other areas. The 100-scale maps cover one-eighth square mile, while the 400-scale maps cover two square miles. The photos and parcel maps can be combined to show both physical features and parcel lines. Current prices are $5 for each aerial photograph or parcel map, or $10 for each combination photo and parcel map.
