Number of Precincts
There are 19 precincts in this election. This includes 18 election
day polling places, plus early voting which is counted as a separate precinct.
Number of precincts by district:
- Iowa City School District: 10 precincts (9 polling places plus absentee)
- Clear Creek Amana School District: 7 precincts (6 polling places plus
absentee)
- Lone Tree School District: 2 precincts (one polling place plus
absentee)
- Solon School District: 3 precincts (2 polling places plus absentee)
- Kirkwood levy: 19 precincts (18 polling places plus absentee)
Results for multi-county districts
All precincts in the Iowa City, Clear Creek Amana, Lone Tree and Solon
districts will report their results to the Johnson County Auditor's Office on
Election Night. This includes Clear Creek Amana Precinct 6 which is
located in Iowa County.
The College Community School District precinct located in Swisher will
report results to the Linn County
Auditor's Office.
The Kirkwood levy results are for the Iowa City, Clear Creek Amana, Lone
Tree and Solon districts only. Voters in several counties are
participating in this election. We do not have access to results from
other counties on Election Night. For more information contact the Linn
County Auditor's Office (control county for Merged Area 10).
Separate absentee results by school district for the Kirkwood levy are not
available. The absentee total represents all early voters in all four
districts.
Clear Creek Amana Write-In Results
The Clear Creek Amana director at large contest will be determined by
write-in votes since no candidates filed for the seat. Write-in votes
must be hand-counted by our pollworkers, and initial reports will only list
the total number of write-in votes cast.
Once the poll workers have returned their supplies to our office, we will
verify and release write-in results for Clear Creek Amana. The Clear Creek Amana
director at large results will not appear on cable TV or the lobby
display, but will be posted on the web site.
For other districts, the web site will be updated on election night in the
event that a write-in candidate wins more votes than a candidate listed on the
ballot. Scattered write-in votes not determining the outcome of a
contest will be reviewed in the days following the election. In the
event a write-in earns more than 2 percent of the vote, that person will be
included in the final canvass of votes and listed on the web site.
When are the results final?
Once the poll workers have returned their supplies to our office, our staff
will review the printouts from the voting machines and make any
corrections. Once all corrections are made, results will include the
heading "Verified Preliminary Final Results." These will be
the last returns posted on September 9th.
Vote totals may change in the days following the election as special
ballots and late arriving absentee ballots with timely postmarks are counted.
All election results are unofficial until the official canvass of votes,
conducted by the Johnson County Board of Supervisors on Friday, September
12. Following the canvass, results will include the heading "Final
Official Results." These results will remain on our site
permanently as a historic record. Past
