Faxed Results
We will be faxing grand totals and precinct results to our regular list of
news media contacts. Please contact our office with any changes or

When will results be available?
Results will be posted beginning at 9 p.m. Early voting results will
be posted as soon as they are completed. After 9 p.m.
we will enter and update results as quickly as they are phoned in from the 57
polling places. Once all precincts have called in, results will be
labeled "Preliminary Final Results."
Number of Precincts
The total number of precincts for Johnson County in general elections is 58.
There are 57 polling places, and early ballots are counted as a separate
precinct. This is a change since
the last presidential election, as six precincts
were added in 2002.
There are 58 precincts for all contests except state legislative
races and city special elections.
Number of precincts in legislative contests:
- House District 29: 14 precincts (12 complete
precincts, one annexed precinct,
absentee)
- House District 30: 13 precincts (12
precincts plus absentee)
- House District 77: 13 precincts (12
precincts plus absentee)
- House District 78: 13 precincts (12
precincts plus absentee)
- House District 79 and Senate District 40: 5 precincts
(two complete precincts, two annexed
precincts, absentee) (CHANGE since 2002)
- House District 89: 8
precincts
(seven precincts plus absentee)
There are two precincts in the Solon special election (Solon polling place and
absentee).
There are two Johnson County precincts in the West Branch special
election (Scott Township polling place and absentee). Most of the city of West Branch
is in Cedar County. For more information contact the city
of West Branch or the Cedar County Auditor, (563) 886-3168.
When are the results final?
Once the poll workers have returned their supplies to our office, our staff
will review the printouts from the voting machines and make any
corrections. Once all corrections are made, results will include the
heading "Verified Preliminary Final Results." These will be
the last returns posted on November 2nd.
Vote totals usually change slightly in the days following the election as
special ballots and late arriving absentee ballots with timely postmarks are
counted.
All election results are unofficial until the canvass of votes, conducted
by the Johnson County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, November 9th.
Following the canvass, results will include the heading "Final Official
Results." These results will remain on our site permanently as a
historic record. Past Election Returns
