About this list
The above list includes only those persons who have filed affidavits of
candidacy with the Johnson County Auditor and who will appear on the June 3
primary ballot. Other persons may consider themselves candidates and may in the
future file affidavits of candidacy for the November 4 general election ballot,
but only the two official political parties will participate in the June 3
primary. (Though voters may now register with the Green or Libertarian
parties, those groups are legally termed "political organizations" and do not
hold primaries.)
The filing period for the November 4 general election for candidates not representing the two official parties is August
4-27 for county candidates. Ballot
Access and Candidate Qualifications The political parties may also
nominate federal or legislative candidates by convention to fill
ballot vacancies through August 27 (August 15 for federal and state offices).
Before August 4, the Johnson County Auditor's Office will
accept a notice of intent to declare candidacy
from candidates for county office only who do not
represent the two official parties.
Note regarding candidate
phone numbers
Upon filing nomination papers, all candidates complete an affidavit of
candidacy form. This includes a space for the candidate's phone number
with the notation "Optional, will be published." If no phone
number is listed for a candidate on this web site, the candidate left the
phone number space blank on the affidavit of candidacy.
Note regarding candidate
e-mail addresses and web sites
The affidavit of candidacy form also includes a space for the candidate to
list an e-mail address. To e-mail a candidate, replace the italic
AT in the address with the @ sign. (The
@
has been replaced with AT on this web
site to block address harvesting software used by spammers.)
If no e-mail address is listed for a candidate, the candidate left the
e-mail address space blank on the affidavit of candidacy.
If a name appears underlined, the name is a link to the campaign website.
Candidates whose names are not underlined do not have campaign web sites.
If you know of a website that is not listed for a candidate who has filed,
please contact our office.
