1999 Mock Presidential Election, Johnson County Fair To promote public interest in voting and voter registration, the Auditor’s Office conducted a mock presidential election at the Johnson County Fair from July 26 through 29. The results are not necessarily an accurate reflection of public opinion and do not represent a scientific survey, but were intended solely to be part of the fun of the Johnson County Fair. 701 people, including children and guests from outside Johnson County, participated in the mock election. Fairgoers were asked to sign a pledge to vote only once. Results were announced twice a day throughout the fair. The mock election used a ballot reader of the type used at the polls in real elections, and numbered generic ballots accompanied by an instruction sheet matching numbers with candidates. At conclusion of voting, Thursday, July 29, 9 p.m. Total Voters: 701 Democrats
