Please consider this my application for appointment to the Johnson County Board of Supervisors. I appreciate the opportunity to provide information about myself in seeking this appointment.

Currently I hold the position of Mayor of the City of Hills. I am on my second term as mayor. Prior to being elected Mayor I served on the Hills City Council for a period of six years. I am also a practicing attorney in the Iowa City area.

During my time as Mayor I have had an opportunity to be involved in some county boards and meetings. This limited involvement has provided me with the goal to become involved on a higher level. I believe its important to have people from different backgrounds on the Board and feel that my experiences as both Mayor and as an attorney would provide a good mix for the Board.

As Mayor I have also been able to network with Mayors of other communities. Last week I met with Mayors of Urban centers in Des Moines. At this meeting I learned valuable information with regard to land use planning in other communities around Iowa. These are the kind of things I would continue to seek information on and hopefully be able to bring useful information to the Board for consideration.

I feel it is important to the Board to continue to provide county wide services while maintaining a cohesive balance with other governing bodies.
