It is my great pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Tom Carsner in support of his membership on the County Board of Supervisors. Tom is completely committed to our community and to its future. Tom believes in the public's access to government and has worked diligently in this area. Tom is also committed to managed growth that benefits our citizens and that can be sustained in a reasonable, efficient, and economical manner.

As a member of the Iowa City and Johnson County community and as a parent of school-age children who are thriving here, I am certain that our future would be in good hands if Tom Carsner were to be named to the County Board of Supervisors. I have worked with Tom at ACT, Inc. since my relocation from Atlanta, Georgia to Iowa City in July of 1997. I know from firsthand experience that Tom is bright, flexible, and ethical. His work ethic is superior. In his role as editor on the ACT Assessment, Tom and his associates have the responsibility of ensuring the highest quality for this product. Through difficult deadlines, and challenging materials, Tom has always made significant contributions to this work.

Although a relatively new resident of Johnson County, I am a long-time Democrat, volunteer, and supporter of the national ticket and of Zell Miller and his platform in Georgia. It is wonderful to see someone like Tom Carsner aspire to political office because he cares about our community and because he cares about our future. I hope that you will seriously consider Tom to fill the vacant position on the Johnson County Board of Supervisors.
