TO : JOHNSON COUNTY MEDIA
The Statutory Committee to fill the vacancy on the Johnson County Board of Supervisors today unanimously appointed Carol Thompson to the position. Thompson is Chief Juvenile Court Officer, Sixth Judicial District. The vacancy on the Board of Supervisors was created when Joe Bolkcom resigned to take a seat in the Iowa Senate. The Statutory Committee, set by the Code of Iowa, is comprised of the Recorder, Treasurer, and Auditor.
Twelve individuals applied for and were interviewed for the position. The members of the statutory committee felt fortunate that the quality of the applicants was of the highest calibre, and that every applicant could have served well in the position if appointed. It is hoped that all twelve will consider providing service to Johnson County in a method of their choosing and/or running for public office in the future.
