Dear Elected Officials,
I am writing to voice my support for Tom Carsner for appointment to the Johnson County Board of Supervisors. Like over 3500 other Johnson County residents, I voted for Tom in the primary election. I have seen Tom in action on-issues that matter to this county; he is very qualified to serve. Human services, the environment, and open government; these are Tom's strong points. They are the same themes that kept me supporting Joe Bolkcom over the years. The people of Johnson County deserve to keep Joe's legacy going strong. They have voted to support this agenda time and time again.
More importantly, I know Tom personally. He is a person of outstanding character, and will not "play favorites". In a time of great scrutiny of public officials, Tom can stand under the microscope with nothing to fear.
I might also note that Iowa City is currently unrepresented on the Board. I feel that this may be an important consideration, as most county property taxes are paid by Iowa City residents.
Finally, I know that I speak for many local Democrats when I say that I have worked darn hard to elect each and every one of you. I realize that I am not "owed" anything because of this, but I hope you will consider our feelings when deciding on a replacement for Joe Bolkcom. Please remember the many progressives that put each of you in office, and select Tom Carsner for the Board of Supervisors.
Sincerely,
Rod Sullivan
