March 9, 2004 College Community School Election

On March 9, 2004, voters in the College Community School District rejected the following issue:

“Shall the Board of Directors of the College Community School District in the Counties of Benton, Linn, and Johnson, State of Iowa, be authorized to contract indebtedness and issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $14,000,000 to provide funds for the purchase of land and to build and furnish a recreation center/field house to include a swimming pool, gymnasium, locker rooms and other related fitness areas and to upgrade youth recreational athletic fields of the School District?”

A 60% yes vote was required for approval.

Johnson County voters in parts of Monroe, Jefferson, and Big Grove townships, including the cities of Shueyville and Swisher, were able to vote in this election.  Map  The polling place for Johnson County voters was Swisher City Hall.  Polls were open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The voter registration deadline was February 27, 2004 at 5 p.m.
