March 30, 2004 Mt. Vernon School Election

On March 30, 2004, voters in the Mt. Vernon School District approved the following issue:

“Shall the Board of Directors of the Mount Vernon School District in the Counties of Johnson, Jones, and Linn, State of Iowa, be authorized to contract indebtedness and issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $8,900,000 to provide funds to build and furnish a new high school building; to improve, remodel, repair, furnish, and equip school buildings, and to improve and acquire sites?”

A 60% yes vote was required for approval.  Johnson County voters in the extreme northern part of Cedar Township were able to vote in this election.  Map  The polling place for Johnson County voters was Mt. Vernon City Hall.  Polls were open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The voter registration deadline was March 19, 2004 at 5 p.m.
