2010 Johnson County Fair Mock Election
The Auditor’s Office hosted its annual mock election as part of the
Johnson County Government exhibit in Exhibition Hall B at the Johnson County
Fair July 26-29.
This year voters made choices in ten mock election contests: eight
county-wide candidate contests and two ballot issues.
All persons attending the fair, including children and guests from outside
Johnson County, were able to see and use real voting booths and machines to
participate in the mock election. Participants were asked to vote only once.
Results were posted daily.

Differences between fair ballot and general election ballot
Because the county fair fell before the August 13 filing deadline for state
and federal office, the Auditor's Office had to determine which candidates to
include based on news reports and campaign websites. There were some differences
between the fair ballot and the actual general election ballot:
- US Senate: Hennager did not qualify.
- Governor: Phillips and Barth did not qualify. David Rosenfeld (Socialist
Workers) and Gregory Hughes (nominated by petition) did qualify.
- All other contests: the candidates listed, and no others, qualified.
