Approval Process
The first public hearing and vote on Iowa City's proposed precincts was
held on July 31st, 2001. The council approved the proposal on first
consideration 6-0 (one absent). On August 20 and 21, the council
unanimously approved the precincts on second and third consideration.
Following approval of the new precincts, the Iowa Secretary of State

combination of rural precincts East Lucas North and South with Iowa City
precincts 22 and 12. A second public hearing was held December 11, 2001.
