The only school district located entirely within Johnson County is the Iowa City Community School District. Johnson County administers school elections for Iowa City and for three districts located primarily within Johnson County: Clear Creek Amana, Lone Tree, and Solon. Eight other districts include parts of Johnson County, but are located primarily in other counties.
