On April 30, the playground equipment at Hickory Hill
Picnic Area at F.W. Kent Park, a Hickory Hill Picni
c Area at F.W. Kent Park, and some at Scott Church
Park, had to be dismantled.
The JCCB removed the playground because the equipment
did not meet the guidelines of the U.S. Consumer Product
Safety Commission Handbook for Public Playground Safety.
It had been used by several generations in the 30
years it has been in the park, but it was time for
it to be replaced to make the park a safer place.
The Conservation Board will be seeking grant funds
to replace the equipment but that takes considerable
time. If you or your organization would want to
help with the purchase of new playground equipment,
contact JCCB Director Harry Graves, F.W. Kent Park
Operations Center, 2048 Highway6 NW, Oxford, Iowa
52322, or call 319-645-2315.
