Conservation Connection LogoNew position
By Kristen Goldsmith, Naturalist

In every person's life they are faced with life-changing decisions. Recently I have made two of them - one of them hard and the other easy. First, the easy decision was to say yes to a marriage proposal from my boyfriend Joe. I am happy to announce that we are currently busy planning our wedding which will take place this fall.

The second difficult decision was my choice to leave the Johnson County Conservation Board and follow a different career path. I have recently taken a job with the Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District and will leave my position as the JCCB naturalist in early July. This choice was not an easy one to make. I believe we have made definite strides in increasing the quality of the environmental education program and I will miss working with JCCB staff, the local teachers and members of other natural resource organizations with whom I have developed relationships.

I want to thank you for the support I have received since coming to the Iowa City area. I believe that the firm commitment to conservation education of the JCCB Director and staff, will allow the environmental education program to continue to grow in Johnson County.
