Conservation Connection Logo Trees: The Ultimate Gift

Planting a tree can be a unique gift as a tribute to a child or grandchild, a way to commemorate the life of a departed loved-one or to honor a living friend. A tree is a gift to the ages that transcends time.

The Johnson County Conservation Board inaugurated the memorial tree planting program last year. A total of 24 trees have been planted so far at Kent Park, the Scott Church area and Walker Park. This program has had a great start and will provide beauty and habitat for years to come.Memorial Tree Icon

Each planted tree will have a small engraved plaque near the base to commemorate the honoree. Typical costs for a six to ten foot tree and plaque are in the $75 - $150 range.

If you are interested in purchasing memorial trees for any county park, please contact Harry Graves, JCCB Director at 319-645-2315.
