Alcohol Beverage License
The Johnson County Auditor's Office supplies forms for licensing the sale of alcoholic beverages at all Johnson County establishments located outside any city limits. The Auditor's Office will also assist the applicant in interpreting the rules and regulations as set forth by the State of Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division.
In accordance with Iowa Code, a completed request for a new or renewal liquor, beer, or wine license will be presented to the Board of Supervisors for a vote at a regularly scheduled Board meeting. Please allow the Auditor’s Office two weeks to process these applications according to County Ordinance 11-21-00-01. Once the applicant completes the online application and submits necessary paperwork, the Auditor’s Office processes the application with the local authority and then with the State. The State then sends the license to the Johnson County Auditor who forwards it to the applicant. Once the applicant receives the license, they must post it at the establishment in full view of the public.
