Iowa Farmers' Market       WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program


Checks are available for use at farmers' markets to purchase fruits, vegetables and herbs for those active in the WIC program.  In order to be eligibile for the WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (WIC FMNP) you must meet the following criteria:  children age 2 or older, pregnant/breastfeeding women.

Each participant in the WIC FMNP receives a one-time benefit in the form of checks to be used June 1 through October 31 in the year the checks are issued.  Families must be enrolled in WIC during the previous month of May in order to receive farmers' market checks.  Checks can be used to purchase fresh, unprepared, locally grown fruits, vegetables and herbs at authorized farmers' markets and farm stands.
