Web Search Tips
Due to recent security concerns, the capacity to view images of recorded documents on the Johnson County Recorder’s public internet site is now limited to July 1, 2002 – forward. Please note this does not affect “indexing” information. Indexing information is still available from November 1, 1983 – forward.
Public access to all documents (in accordance with Iowa law) is still available in our office. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

VIEWING IMAGES:
If you have issues viewing images, please make sure you are running the most current version of Java. This software can be found at www.java.com. It is a free download.
PRINTING:
If you want to print a document, do NOT use the printer icon or the “file/print” option. Instead, right-click on the image itself and a print queue will appear. From here you can print the entire document or selected pages. MAC USERS: "Right-click" by holding down the CTRL key while clicking.
SEARCHING BY SEC/TWP/RANGE:
Always use a 0 (zero) as a place holder. EX: 01-77-06
RELEASES / ASSIGNMENTS:
Releases and assignments recorded before May 5, 2003 are not always “linked” to the corresponding mortgage. Be sure to view the actual document for any marginal notations or do a name search on the individual.
