Johnson County Solar Arrays

Solar Unit

This webpage provides information on solar arrays that generate electricity for Johnson County government facilities. If you are considering a solar array project in the county's unincorporated area, please visit the Building Services site for the Solar PV System guidelines and checklist.

Johnson County is proud to be the first county in Iowa to have entered into Power Purchase Agreements for solar photovoltaic (PV) arrays.

OUR PROJECT STORY: Learn how the County decided to add solar and enter into PPAs.

ARRAY PORTALS: The dashboard links below show current and past energy generated by the arrays that have been operating at the Secondary Roads and SEATS campus since 2015 and the arrays at the Administration Building and the Health and Human Services Building, operating since late fall 2016. An array also will be added to the new Ambulance and Medical Examiner facility.
