Many people know the Treasurer's Department as the place where they renew their car registration and obtain license plates. The Treasurer's Office has a steady flow of visitors because it administers state motor vehicle registration and licensing laws in the county.

The Johnson County Motor Vehicle department is open Monday-Friday, 7:45 a.m.-5:30 p.m., County Administration Building, 913 South Dubuque Street, Iowa City, (319) 356-6091.

For title transfers please be in the office by 5:00 p.m.
