The Disease Prevention Division is responsible for a variety of public health
functions. The program areas are described below along with links to program

Infectious Disease
• The goals of this program are to prevent and contain infectious
diseases through outbreak investigations, reportable disease follow-up, and immunization
promotion. Program webpages include disease fact sheets, information for all ages on
vaccination, daycare resources, health care provider resources, disease prevention in
schools. Bioterrorism topics are also listed on these program pages. All topics are under
the Infectious Disease Resource Center (IDRC).
• The food safety program strives to maintain safe food handling
practices in Johnson County. Program webpages include forms and applications for
commercial food operation, safe food handling information and materials for commercial
operators and the general public, and foodborne illness information.
