Johnson County Sheriff will check Johnson County Jail public information
records upon written request by the public. Information provided to the
requester includes date of arrest, arresting agency, and charges. No charge
disposition will be provided. Records checks require full name and date of birth of the person for which the search is being requested. No fax or phone requests will be accepted. Mailed requests require a self-addressed stamped envelope for return. Requests made by the armed forces should be faxed to the local recruiter who should then bring the request to the sheriffs office. Fee per request being searched is $5.00. (Requests for additional names on the same individual are considered separately.) |

If the Johnson County Sheriffs Office was the investigating
agency on an auto accident, copies of the accident report are available
upon request in person or in writing to parties involved in the accident
or their designated insurance agent or legal representative. The requester will be required to provide date and location of the accident. No fax or phone requests will be accepted. Mailed requests require a self-addressed stamped envelope for return. Fee per accident report is $5.00. |

| FingerPrints | |
|
Fingerprinting is available to the public between the hours
of 1:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays
(except holidays). A picture ID with name and signature is required. The fee is $10.00 per applicant (CASH ONLY) The fee for fingerprints required by the DOT for Hazmat Endorsements is $30.00 per applicant (CASH or CHECK) |

| Firearm Permits | |

Requirements to apply for an Iowa Annual Permit to Acquire Pistols or Revolvers First Time Applicants: - Must be 21 years of age or older. - Must be a resident of Johnson County for 30 days and State of Iowa for 90 days. - Must make application in the county where the applicant resides. - Will provide a valid ID or drivers license from the Iowa Department of Transportation with a current address. - Applications will be accepted Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM excluding county holidays. - Fees for processing new permits: $15.00. THIS FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE. - Application requires minimum of three (3) working days to process. Approved permits will be mailed to the applicant. - Anyone living in or on University of Iowa property must check university campus laws reference handguns (University of Iowa Department of Public Safety). - Applicant shall have no outstanding fines or warrants in the State of Iowa.
