Toggle Overview Map - This toggle overview
map wil display or remove the inset county map in the left hand corner of
the view |

Zoom In - The button with a magnifier glass and the plus
sign is used to Zoom In to an area on the map. Either draw a rectangle to
select an area of the map to be redisplayed or click and the map will be
displayed at a more detailed view with the selected point at the center
of the map. This process can be repeated until the desired location is displayed.
This button can also be used in the county inset map to select an area.

Zoom Out - The button with a magnifier glass and the
minus sign is used to Zoom Out to a larger viewing area on the map. Either
draw a rectangle to select an area of the map to be redisplayed or click
and the map will be displayed with a larger view of the county and the selected
point at the center of the map. |

Zoom to Full Extent - This is used to bring you back
to the full extent of the county.. |

Back to Last Extent - This is used to bring you back
to the previous extent. If pressed it will return to the previously displayed
map view. This is helpful when you have zoomed in a bit too closely. |

Pan - This button allows you to move the map up, down,
left, or right. |
 |
Indentify - As a specific layers boundaries are displayed,
select this button and click inside the boundary for which you would like
detailed information. Once this button has been clicked it will redisplay
the map with summary information and options to view the County or City
Assessor's information. You must set the layer you wish to identify to active. |

Search - Click this button to display the search window that provides tools for
looking up parcel numbers and parcel addresses. |
 |
Measure - The small ruler button is a Measurement Tool.
The resulting measurements are approximate based on the accuracy of the
beginning and ending location points. |

Buffer - This option will allow you to enter a buffer
area around the parcel you have identified. |
 |
Select Records - This option allows you to select a single
or multiple parcels by drawing a box around them. |
 |
Clear Selection - The eraser button is the Unselect button,
which will clear the selected parcel information from the map view. |

Print - The Printer button will print the displayed map
view |
 |
Help - This button will bring you to the search page that contains additional help pages. |

Any time that you turn off or turn on a layer you need to select the button
to display your changes.
Legend
Any time you you select the
button you will need to click the
button to close this window.
Error Messages
Message: The Active Layer is not visible due to scale and
features can not be selected.
Answer: Zoom to a scale where the layer is visible
Message: No selected features to buffer
Answer: Identify a parcel, street, river, etc... and then select
the Buffer toolbar button.
Message: Unable to start. Required HTML Form missing (jsForm.htm)
Answer: You have either bookmarked the incorrect URL or are trying
to refresh you page improperly (refer to the instructions below). To correct
this go back to the URL: http://www.johnson-county.com/website/jcmap2/intro.htm
and rebookmark your page.
Page Refresh
When refreshing a page use the <ctrl> + <f5> keys.
Do not use the refresh option that is available in your browser. It will not
work properly.
